Chairman and Non-Executive Director
Timothy Fearnhead is a Chartered Accountant and was a partner at Deloitte for over 20 years. He served in various financial executive roles within the Nedbank group between 1997 to 2006 and currently serves as an independent non-executive director to two listed companies and as a director on other non-listed companies.
Ellie Salkow began his career as a salesman and honed his entrepreneurial skills early on in South Africa and later in the United Kingdom. In 1979, he started Ellies and with great entrepreneurial spirit and flair, he soon recognised, exploited and created new opportunities within the market.
Mr. Elliott Salkow (“Ellie”) has taken a non-executive director role on the Board and will relinquish fulltime duties at the Company. The Company is grateful to Ellie for his invaluable contribution and looks forward to his strategic guidance at board level going forward.
Francois Olivier is a portfolio manager at Mazi Asset Management Proprietary Limited. Mr Olivier has 19 years of investment research and portfolio management experience, six years of which were spend in the USA. He is a Chartered Accountant and CFA charter holder.
Edward Raff has extensive financial and commercial experience and previously worked in investment banking, most recently at Rothschild & Co. Prior to this he served as a senior executive in corporate finance at AngloGold Ashanti for almost 10 years. Mr Raff holds a B Comm, BSc Honours in Advanced Mathematics of Finance, H Dip Tax, H Dip Man and has completed all 3 CFA levels.
Martin was the MEC for Finance in the North West Provincial Government from 1994 until 2004. Prior to that, he spent 17 years in healthcare services. In June 2004 he became CEO of the South African Bureau of Standards, a position he held until July 2009.
He was the chairperson of the first Board of Trustees for the Government Employees Pension Fund overseeing a portfolio worth R850 billion from June 2005 to July 2009.
He served on the PRI Board of the United Nations Global Compact Initiative on Responsible Investment, served as chairperson of the Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund and is President of the Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Shaun Prithivirajh was the Group CEO for GloCell Proprietary Limited (“GloCell”) for the last two years. Prior to joining GloCell he was managing executive and director for Ellerines Services Africa as well as manager of international products retail, commercial and industrial for Chevron South Africa Proprietary Limited (Caltex).
Shaun holds a PhD in Business Management from the University of North-West, MBA from the University of Natal, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Natal and a BA from the University of Durban-Westville. He has extensive executive experience in turnaround businesses and in-depth management experience in highly competitive retail and service driven businesses.
Shaun was appointed as the new CEO of Ellies with effect from 1 August 2018.
Chief Financial Officer
Christiaan Booyens is an experienced Chartered Accountant and has held various financial director roles at Distribution and Warehousing Network Limited, Iliad Africa Limited, and various Tiger Brands Limited subsidiaries. The appointment of Chris as Chief Financial Officer of Ellies was confirmed on 4 April 2019.
